Welcome to CANDID (the “Platform”), operated by CANDID Academy (Pty) Ltd (“CANDID”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By accessing or using the CANDID mobile application, website (including candidacademy.org), or any related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”).

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Services.

CANDID is a professional development and performance feedback platform designed for:

• Safari guides
• Lodges and hospitality operators
• Wildlife tourism professionals

The Platform provides structured performance feedback tools, data analytics, professional development resources, and optional mentorship-related content.

CANDID does not provide medical, psychological, or therapeutic services.

You must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have legal capacity to enter into binding agreements
• Use the Services in a professional capacity

By registering, you confirm that the information provided is accurate and complete.

Users must:

• Maintain confidentiality of login credentials
• Provide accurate profile information
• Notify CANDID immediately of unauthorised access

CANDID reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that provide false information or misuse the platform.

The Platform enables:

• Guest-to-guide feedback
• Peer or management evaluations
• Aggregated performance analytics

Feedback reflects subjective experiences and does not represent verified factual determinations.

CANDID is not responsible for the accuracy of feedback submitted by users.

• Users retain ownership of personal data they submit.
• Lodges retain ownership of lodge-specific performance data.
• CANDID retains ownership of anonymised, aggregated data insights.

CANDID may use anonymised and aggregated data for:

• Platform improvement
• Industry research
• Performance benchmarking
• Marketing (without identifying individuals)

We comply with applicable data protection laws, including POPIA (South Africa) and GDPR where applicable.

CANDID may provide educational content relating to stress, resilience, and professional wellbeing.

However:

• CANDID does not provide therapy, counselling, or medical services. It will suggest trained professional if necessary
• The Platform is not a substitute for professional mental health care.
• Users experiencing psychological distress should seek licensed professional assistance or advise CANID staff to help find such a professional 

You agree not to:

• Submit defamatory, abusive, discriminatory, or false content
• Harass other users
• Manipulate feedback scores
• Use the Platform for unlawful purposes
• Reverse engineer or exploit the system

CANDID may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Lodges using CANDID agree to:

• Use performance data ethically
• Not use the Platform as a punitive surveillance tool
• Comply with employment laws
• Respect guide confidentiality

CANDID is not responsible for internal HR decisions made by lodges.

If applicable:

• Subscription fees are billed in advance
• Fees are non-refundable unless required by law
• CANDID may change pricing with reasonable notice

Failure to pay may result in suspension of access.

All platform content, design, analytics models, trademarks, and branding are the property of CANDID Academy (Pty) Ltd.

Users may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or commercially exploit any part of the Platform without written permission.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

CANDID shall not be liable for:

• Employment outcomes
• Lost income or business
• Reputational damage arising from feedback
• Indirect or consequential damages

Use of the Platform is at your own risk.

You agree to indemnify and hold CANDID harmless against claims arising from:

• Your misuse of the Platform
• Content you submit
• Violation of these Terms

CANDID may suspend or terminate access:

• For breach of these Terms
• For misuse of data
• At our discretion where necessary to protect the integrity of the Platform

Users may terminate their account at any time.

CANDID reserves the right to update these Terms at any time.
Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Any disputes shall be resolved in South African courts, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer protection laws.
